Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions are listed along with their answers

How good of a musician do I need to be to attend?

Except for invitations that are Skill-Level Specific, anyone from a beginner/early learner to the most advanced are welcome to attend.  In the larger jams, players tend to play with others with similar skill levels.  For beginners/early learners we attempt to have a beginner room where we teach basic Jam etiquette and play three chord songs to start with.  If you are just starting, learn these these four chords before you attend:  C, G, D, F.  When you attend, please let one of the Hosts know you are a beginner and we will be glad to help you get started.

What kind of genres and instruments are support?

Genres:  At this time, Traditional Bluegrass, Country Gospel, Traditional Country (e.g., Merle Haggard, etc.), Swing/Western Swing, Gypsy Jazz, Folk, and Old-Time Fiddle.

Instruments:  At this time voice, stringed Acoustic Instruments, harmonica and accordian, depending on Jam Genre.  Except for small Bass amps (e.g., Bass Microcube), no electric instruments at this time. However, all jammers and vocalists request that the bass amp volume be commensurate with that volume of an acoustic Bass

Where and when are the jams?

Jams are private at this time and are by invitation only for security reasons. Although there may be various and specific jams from time to time, the main jam will be held in Bellingham.  To receive the reminder and the location, you must be a subscriber.  This is a requirement in order to use the facility

How do I get on the invitation list?

Getting an invitation is simple. 1.) Select "Home" from the Menu above; then 2.) On the home page click on the "Put me on the List" button.

Once you have completed and submitted your request, you will be sent an email requesting you confirm it's really you.  Once confirmed, you will be sent a welcome letter and invitations to jams.

Who pays for all of this?

There are no business, entity or organizational sponsors & there is no fee to participate and there is no commercial benefit to anyone as it's a private meeting and not open to the public at large.  Coffee/Water are often provided by the host/hostess, but not guaranteed.  Creation and maintenance of the invitation list and the web page is a volunteer effort by David
